Talking 944Fest Lodging situation!

OK folks, don't say I didn't warn you. IF you plan on coming the the 944fest and don't want to camp with us, get going NOW and reserve a room. Due to the bike weekend at the track, the local hotels are profiteering and requiring a 3 night stay to get a spot for the weekend. ($$!!$$) There are some lesser hotels a few (8-10) miles away with vacancies but I am not going to reserve a block of rooms there. In the past years only a few folks went for hotel rooms, so it should not be too much of a problem. Myself I am going to get two rooms Fri/Sat and offer the keys to anyone who wants a shower Sun AM. (5$ donation for 15 minutes in a shower??) Anyway, this should only be a problem for a few folks, and the sooner we get it resolved the better off you will be. If you use one of those hotel/motel finders, you want to be close to Lexington or Bellville OH, zip code 44901-1456. If you need more info, email me at 944fest (@) adelphia.net

Don't say I didn't warn you!

See ya there

Is there a "common" hotel where everyone will be staying at? Something close by?

Talking

I got my rooms at the travelodge, and it isn't much over 2 stars. They need a TWO night stay (Fri/Sat) at about $80 a night. The good side is it isn't more than 2 or 3 miles from the site. 419-756-7600 . Sorry I can't offer anything better.

Heads up, the Travelodge web site offered this nugget:

Property Information
On-site Facilities -
Disco (!!)

OK, maybe here is something a LITTLE better. This is very, very close. The Amerihost Mansfield. I booked online thru www.travlenow.com. Tell it you want to find lodging in Mansfield, OH. It is steep (139 a night) but you only need to stay one night (at the price of TWO, duh!) I could not find a phone number but you are probably best booking online because when I walked in to the hotel last week they said they were full that night, yet the internet sites are taking online (expensive) reservations. Make sure you jot down your confirmation numbers (mine had a 944 in it!!) I reserved one room here just because they have a pool and my girls really like that. I'll still have the two rooms at the Travelodge for showers, etc.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance to you lodging seekers! Really, if you want to be where the CROWD is, bring a tent. Last year there was NO action at the motel except a few parked 944s.

I beleive there are pics to prove the sleeping in car. We'll most likely be tenting, it's the most fun anyway.

What were the fest dates again? You know, just in case I can make it out...

Which city is more interesting? Columbus or Cleveland? I'd probably be staying at a staff rate at one of the Westin/Sheraton hotels in the area.. just wondering which city is most worthy of my patronage...

My godmum lives in Windsor, Ont. but I'm not sure if I want to stay that far away from the venue...

Wow, Rich! It would be great to meet you if you were in town July 16th and 17th. As for Cleveland vs. Columbus, well, I might give the nod to Columbus. Cleveland has Lake Erie, but it will pale compared to what you are used to. Check flights (if that is your travel plan) and see which is cheaper, CLE or CMH. They are both an hour ride in, and you can probably get a ride from either. If you come in to CLE, I can arrange a ride. There are a lot of guys coming thru CMH too. Windsor is on the wrong side of Lake Erie (a bridge from Detroit IIRC), that would be about 3.5hr drive from the fest, give or take.

I'll likely tow the car to the 'fest - and if so, I'll throw a couple cots in the trailer. Viola! instant bed and breakfast (without the breakfast). The wife-o-saurus will probably opt for a return trip to the house for the night (Columbus) - she's not much of a camper - so I'll offer it up to whoever needs a dry place to sleep.

That's some great thinking Travis!

do want to be referred to as "Cousin Eddie" from here on out?? I can almost hear the Kenny Loggins in the room.. Holiday Road...

"Real tomato catsup Eddie?"
"Nuthin but the best, Clark"

Edit to get back to topic: I'll be in the trenches in tent city. Should we make reservations for a block of spaces? I'm sure the bike week people als camping are gonna LOVE US!

If I am lucky enough to clear my schedule enough to make you can count on me being in tentropolis. Maybe no tent, just a sleeping bag!!! I cant wait to sing ole German camping songs around the fire while roasting some Eibische's.
