Default In DESPARATE need of quick help...

...of all the stupid things to go wrong with the car (87 944S) TONIGHT, before we're supposed to start the trek to Daytona in six hours, my f**king driver's seat back is almost fully reclined, and WILL NOT GO UP! Seeing as how I'm not good at blingin', that's not gonna work.

Specifics:
Aftmost switch on driver's side is the faulty one... pushing the switch FORWARD should raise the seat back, but does not. Pushing it BACK works like a friggin' charm, obviously.

I've pulled the switch apart, started cleaning it and promptly lost a contact arm, BB, and center post from the switch rocker, pulled the OTHER switch apart, rebuilt the "bad" one twice, tested it... and the seat back still only goes in one direction, DOWN.

I'm about at wit's end here. I've cut away the plastic surround behind the trim piece that covers the switch in order to access the wiring, and as a last resort I'd like to reverse the switch action... but I don't know WHICH wire is the power wire to RAISE the seat back, and which LOWERS it. My options appear to be as follows:

red (probably main power?)
brown
black
black/stripe (grey, maybe?)
grey/green stripe

And of course, this all happens after we just paid a crap-ton of money to get the axles and fuel pressure regulator replaced today.

Please, someone- help a brotha' out!

Lynn

two little jumper cable type things, like what you can use for a voltmeter you should be able to tjump the contacts probably... If the motor is working at all, you could do that. I don't know which wires are which.
Hopefully somoen ecan help you, it is getting late though.

Wish i could help more, good luck. Otherwise you'd probably have to take the seat out and disconnect the motors and do it manually. I guess there is one reason to like my manual backed seats. I didn't knkow they even had electric backed seats in these? How do you get to teh back seat? wait for it to move up with the electric?

Maybe this will help. Remember the colors are German (SW=black, RT=red, etc). Hope you make it to Daytona. You might try swapping the front switch for the time being unless your plug fell apart.

I had something similar on my 964.

Can you see the motor that tilts the seat under the rear of the seat? If you can reach to that motor and swap the plugs on it then it will work backwards. The working switch will move the seat up, instead of reclining it.

How about using jumpers to connect the switch backwards so that the polarity is reversed. Should make the down switch raise the seat. Maybe that would be a temporary work around.

I belive that the seat can be controlled mechanicly as well using the tool that also works on the sunroof motor for manual control.

So did you make it?
Maybe he just went with pillows as a backrest and roughed it.
