I see. The non-slip gear oil is for open transaxles because it does not have the friction modifiers that a LSD requires. It describes the properties of the fluid, not the use of the fluid.

I have seen recommendations for the 75W90 NS in the LSD and the MT90 in the non-LSD. I thought that was backwards.

The BMW people seem to use Royal Purple instead of Redline. Something to do with API certification. I had Redline in my 944 and thought it was great.

yes, correct

Can go either way, really. LSD equipped folks who don't care to mess with it are generally directed to use 75W90 as it will include plenty of FM to kill chatter and generally feel smooth. Folks with a little more savvy to the performance of their LSD and are willing to trial-and-error a bit are asked to use standard fluids (MT90 or 75W90NS, low-additive) and add FM to taste. Generally, to taste means when they take a sharp turn that there is no lash or bucking of the LSD on acceleration (imagine yourself on a track needing the LSD to power out of a turn).

Not all of them, thankfully Again, it's such a religious argument - similar to Mounds or Almond Joy - "sometimes you feel like a nut, ..." - , "Tastes Great! Less Filling!"
