What caused you to lose control, the speed or the rear wheels spinning? That sucks, but its not beyond repair, I've seen some terrible **** patched up no prob.

I wasn't going that fast maybe 30-35mph, but yea my wheels were spinning and I have a set of summer tires on. Well that's what you get for immature driving. So to all the kids out there watch out, it's no joke. I have an 8 years of driving expierience, consider myself a good driver but yesterday I got a reality check. It's not me testing the car, the car is testing me. Ok I gotta run to estimate the damage at a body shop. I just hope that they are not going to take me for a ride just becouse it's a Porsche.

I don't blame you.. I wouldn't do it much if I were driving the porsche though (although i have).. it's always been in my former volvo rwd wagon or now my moms tacoma.. but the tacoma is no fun so i rarely do anymore. I miss my volvo.

You gotta be mindful of the snow's condition too. I think the looser it is packed the better because you just plow as the car slides... which gives you some lateral stability. Of course those snow tires woulda helped.

Wet snow is the worst. I greatly prefer loosely packed powder. It lets you have some slide with no loss of control. That's how about 90% of the residential roads are around here. You learn to adjust for a certain amount of sliding. I find in wet snow, it's terribly unpredictable.

I agree. I would prefer packed slick surface. the key is a constant surface, so you know what's coming... Nothing is worse than hitting a dry spot going sideways.

Rads, I checked at the Porsche dealer for new tail lights today.

Driver's side: $130.00
Passenger side: $109.00

that's for new lenses. if the bulb holder is good, you're set. Otherwise, check out www.dartauto.com

I already bought a taillight for $30cdn, but thanks for your efforts, greatly appreciated.
I also got a response from a body shop one of the best in town, and they estimated it at $1300cdn witch I think is a little high for damage like this, but still not that bad to handle. I'm just pissed because for that kind of money I could buy a nice 951 front end
.
They told me it's going to take them 16 hours to fix this, plus another 4h to paint. That i can belive, but 16h to hammer it down??? I was thinking 5-6 hours max.

You saw a snow covered curve and thought it would be fun?

Unbelievable.

I don't blame you, I know the feeling. I think I may even have a bit of an obsession with driving in the snow. The key is having a good set of snow tires and the right conditions. Narrow roads don't give much room for error. When we get a good snow, my favorite place to go is downtown Indy late at night. Four or five lane one-way roads with no traffic gives all the room you need for "error".
Sorry this had to happen. I just hope I don't end up getting a reality check myself.

Looks like this is not the first time that has been repaired.
Paint on the pigtail/bulb holder.

I would def not think 16 hours.. get another estimate from
someone not smoking crack!

I put my summer tires on since I wasn't planning on driving in the snow anymore this winter. Well, it snowed again last weekend when I was out of town with the car. I hit the gas a little in a parking lot and immediatly lost control doing a complete 180. I expected to have less grip, but the lack of control surprised me. I've enjoyed my Pirelli Winter 210's and would recommend them.
