OT: Tsunami Relief Scam Site

so.. i hear from one of my good friends that this kid in his class was bragging about running this site, he's claiming 90% of what people send him, and donating the other 10% too humanity relief.
I can get the guys name and phone number, is their anything we can do about this !?

Yeah, call your local FBI. He is probably breaking a bunch of Federal laws by not watching his Ps&Qs. IRS would probably be interested also.
There was another kid in the news that was getting busted and he was at least halfway going to send the contributions somewhere rather than keep them to himself. The FBI has a lot on its plate these days so the $ amount will have to be large to get them very interested. Prior to 9/11, I had an identity theft that fell under federal jurisdiction. Was about 25 grand. No one seemd to care and banks made me whole. FBI agent I had worked with in the past said at that time they couldn't bother with anything under around $150,000. I'm sure that number has gone up quite a bit now.

ok i'm seriously not trying to be mean, but this is way off-topic...this is a technical discussion board...save it for topics that require help. i know first hand how hard it is when you have a burning question on your engine rebuild, brake job, clutch job, etc, and it never gets noticed because of the abounding OT threads in this board.

I would absolutely report this to law enforcement AND the media. When they're done, I'd take him out in the back alley and work him over with a couple of black rubber hoses. People like that deserve no mercy. Well, maybe 10% in his case. Only give him 90% of the ***-whoopin' you think he deserves.

It's so obvious a fraud when he labels photos as satellite when they were taken from a roof top or airplane.
One of the photos showing the retreat of the sea just before the first wave/surge hits is ironic in that these people have no idea what is about to hit them. They are all lined up on the shore line!
One of the places where there was a marginal loss of life was warned by a 10 year old British school girl on vacation with her parents. Seems her teacher had just discussed Tsunamis a few weeks prior to her vacation. When she saw the sea retreating she started to scream at everyone about the Tsunami.
Education. What a difference it makes.
