Default Clutch Catch Point?

I have a few questions regarding the clutch catch point. This is really the first manual car i've ever driven for more then a minute, so im not sure what is considered normal. Here are the questions:

1) About where do your clutches catch? more or less Low, Middle or Top?

2) Where should the catch point be?

I feel like mine is very high because if I take my foot off the clutch too quickly even right at the top, the car studders a bit like i released too early. I assume that it should be in the middle more, but Im not sure.

3) How do I adjust the catch point? Ive read that it's supposed to be very simple, but I dont understand exactly what and where people are talking about. Is the adjustment made in the drivers seat area by the pedal or do I need to go at it from under the car.

Thx. (btw its an 844 944 n/a)

My clutch engages fairly high it seems also, atleast compared to all the other cars i have driven. I have let a good friend of mine drive my car a few times, granted he is pretty good at stick also he almost stalled the car because the friction point seems so high. I would say that the clutch more or less graps right at the top of travel for my car. I have no idea if the clutch is original or replaced either.

Ive read the only adjustments that can be made are in the freeplay and in the stiffness of the pedal. Looking at the clutch pedal linkage, you will see a nut and spring. Turning the nut either direction will make it easier or harder to push the pedal in.

I prefer my clutch in my 944 to be way out with little play where as the race car 944 I drive has it's clutch around the middle. The hydrolic clutch will always engage funny compaired to cable clutches. Never drive your car with out letting the car warm up. The clutch will then feel really odd as in both 944's I drive. Anyways I find with 944 clutch that you get a lot of feel. I'm not sure how to adjust the play in the clutch. The only clutches I've messed with in adjustment have been cable opperated clutches.

my 944S clutch grabs nearly at the top of the travel. it's brand new, but even before then it grabbed high. the clutch release is also very light compared to my M3, which is VERY stiff. my left leg gets tired anytime i hold the M3 clutch in for any length of time.

techno duck - i would like to stiffen my 944 clutch a little bit. i'll have to try what you've suggested.
