driving a 914 is like driving a 911 that isnt as tailhappy. The layout inside is much the same though. I like mine, hope to be driving again in a couple months.

Yeah, Pat. Check out the thread Martin did on the 914 forum about his GT conversion. That car used to be the great John D's. You'll see some of the key areas to look for rust in his pics. I'd say do it so long as it really IS repairable (probably NOT, as Jeff pointed out, though). The cars are a kick in da head fun. I had a bud in high school who's dad owned a VW speed shop, and he slid a hot Type 4 in his 914. It was stupid fun picking on 5.0's and IROC's on curvy roads...
