Default Clunk ?

I get a clunk from somewhere in the back of the car when I change directions - forward to reverse and vice versa. It only happens once, and after the clunk everything feels solid.

Any suggestions ?

Have you checked your cv joints, mine made a similar clunk before needing replaced.

Mine does the same and I know it is the rear brake pads moving in the caliper. Apparently a 'liner' should have been fitted last change and you can hear them move from forward to reverse and back again. I will sort it out next time round. Maybe the same for you? Adam.

It's the brake pads moving in the caliper. Nothing to worry about.

It developed a few months after I had the pads changed.

Any suggestions on differentiating between CV's and pads with the car jacked up ?

my tech tells me move the axle towards, then away from the transmission. if the CV's are bad, you'll hear noises.

I was gonna say there are retaining pins to hold the pads in place, but that's in NA's for sure, not too sure on the turbo.

I still think, that from his description, it is the pads. BTW, the S2 and 951 pads don't have retaining pins. The have a clip at the top of the caliper that pops out, and the pads slide out thru the top to change them. Very easy to change pads in just a couple of minutes.
