Default Rolex 24 Hour

Well it's that time of year again. Who is going? It's always good to meet new rennlist members and see old ones there. I will be there with my girlfriend Jessica. Looks like this year I will be without a Porsche there but will be close around the PCA parking looking at the cars and getting a kick out of the 911 guys when they make fun of the front engine water cooled cars and rear ones at that. Please add yourself to this post if you are going to attend maybe we can meet up there chat and you can show off your car to us I'll be posting my contact info later on closer to the race. Here we come Feb 5-6, 2005.

well - we were going to go again this year, but its the same weekend as the super bowl. i can't figure out why they picked super bowl weekend this year!!! WTF?

we might get there, but since we're both in the news biz, and florida is in our region, we'll probably be in jacksonville, instead. ugh.

the good news is that we're gonna head to sebring this year and see what its all about.

Haha I didn't even know it's superbowl weekend since I don't pay attention to american football. Maybe less people at the race that are annoying good news

My fiancee Debi and I are coming down for the weekend... this'll be my tenth 24, but just my third as a Porsche owner though.

Looking forward to meeting some of you guys down there.

I will be there! And...the 4th is my birthday.

Haven't decided which p-car to drive. Will all depend. The 928 is on jackstands in the garage having a bunch of things done that I've been putting off. But now that I have my 951 - I don't get withdrawals anymore!!

After a great time at the Rennsport Reunion II last April I'd like to go. Are you allowed to park or camp out in the infield during the race?

Mark you are allowed to park in the infield and camp in a camper or your car. If you drive your pcar you can park in the PCA parking right next to the infield straight. I don't think you can pitch a tent anywhere that weekend but I could be wrong.

Question

I've never seen the cars race at night so that would be interesting.

The 944 is locked away until the snow clears. I was going to fly down but if I can camp out in the back of a car maybe I'll drive down.

What's the best time/day to get there?

Well I think the 24 mins of daytona which is the old race cars run few laps around the track starts at 9:30am. They have cars like 917,962/956,911RSR and other makes for that. I plan on being there around 9am or so. If you drive a Porsche you can part in the PCA parking and that's great cause you sleep in the car and watch the race at the same time. I won't have the 951 this year but will be sleeping in a mini van.

I am thinking about it. At the best a day run. Law school has me pretty busy. Daytona shouldn't be too far from here. I will definately bring the pork.

I am on the fence on this. I am in Tampa, and have the green light to go from She Who Must be Obeyed. But not sure if I will make it. Will see who is going from the list and make a decision.
