I'll check the O2 sensor first of all...another thing to look at is the other 944 in my family, same year and has more mile passed, every number was the same or very close except the NO. That would be interesting with the criss cross effect...I hope it is something simple like an O2 sensor which is easy to get to under the car...thanks, i have a lot of leads now to the problem

The O2 is the round plug on the bracket with the reference sensors by the bellhousing mounted at the rear of the intake. You can warm the car up and then unplug it while running and use a volt meter on the O2 side of the plug, it should be the pin that is female, there are two male pins in the plug for the heater in the O2. The one that is isolated slightly inthe rubber is the signal, should read .1-1V and fluctuate if you rev it some. My dad's turbo ran great with a bad O2 but failed the Echeck. With the new O2 I don't really notice a difference in how it runs, maybe slightly better.

Andy... on my list is checking my O2 sensor and I looked over Clark's-garage procedure and he pretty much says what you're suggesting (I think he suggest I feed the intake a bit of propane and then monitor the sensor's output). My question though is, if ya unplug the sensor, how can you get any voltage out of it? Does it have a 2 plug harness, or some other way of "powering" the sensor?...Buce

I would definatelyt ry to take the cat out to get that O2 sensor off , if it's been ther ea while. Mine i needed the right sized box end of a wrench (or maybe it was an adjustable, i'm not sure) and i had to use heat and a huge lever bar.... and i needed that for about 5-6 turns.. it was rough. I would suggest taking it out like I did, It will save a lot of frustration. I suggest running a tap through it before you put the new one in.. they sell it at any auto parts store.. It's a sparkplug hole tap that you need. Theres only two sizes, one a lot smaller than the other, you need the big one. But for me they were both on the same tool.
