Default Wild Creation: 944 Drivetrain in a Mk2 VW Golf!

Check out the incredible work this guy did... what an imagination! I really like the idea of this car. 944 drivetrain, rear suspension, dash and a few other random compenents... gorgeous and creative!

I'll drink to that

Wow!!! Nicest engine bay I've ever seen! Dark blue is a good color for an engine block...

hahaha... it's definitely an eye catcher. I think the car is a work of art though. What a clean job that guy did!

Thats a repost, but still interesting...I have other pics of that car, it's pretty nuts...
Like someone said in that thread though, it's too bad he didn't spring for a 951 motor! And putting the crest on the grill, I'm not quite comfortable with that..

Its amazing. 95% of the people on vwvortex seem like complete dolts...yet I often see these conversions which 95% of the people on rennlist could never execute as well.

Nicely done.

well put serge.

to see that car reminded me of seing brain perrys car for the 1st time after the big resto (comparing anything with teh quality of perry's car is amongst the highest of complements). quality, and done very well. definitly not a hack job and nothing for the weak to attempt.

very impressive. I like the response to the guy who bashed him for not using the turbo...

write this down and carry it around with you:
"Not everybody thinks like I do. People do things differently than i would and that's okay"
hehe...funny

I had a VW and a 951 in the garage for quite some time, and when I first saw the 944 into a VW swap I thought that it must have been an impossible mess of fabrication. And while it wouldn't be easy by any streach of the imagination there are a couple things helping out those willing to take a stab at this. Engine bay space (lots of it in the VW) and wheelbase (beleive it or not, but the two wheel bases are very close to eachother in lenght).....

I for one would like to take this one step further, A Mrk II golf, and a 951 crossed together. Sure the N/A 944/Golf is nice, but that same idea with 300 to the rear wheels is my idea of some real fun. Sort of like the Ford Focus / Mustang combo that ford put together, but that was 500 hp IIRC.....

So-o-o, whats the point? Now he's got a whooping 143 hp! Don't get me wrong, it looks like a very professional conversion, but if I were going to that much trouble, I think I'd find something with a little more grunt!
