yes both engines are true 951 engines. the original motor didn't start one day and it did have low compression numbers. i wanted to get it built up to a 3L so i pulled it out and purchased the crank and in the summer i wanted to drive the car to bad so i got an engine from the local salvage yard and put that it. this was done the summer of 03. it was stored that winter (and actually i stored it every winter i owned it), and i used the car all summer until i got my EVO in beginning of september. sense then i use it weekends occasionally to keep it going. sense i got the replacement engine in i have maybe 5000 miles tops. after tearing apart the old engine, i campe to the conclusion that the reason it didn't start was not due to any mechanical failure, but possibly from the starter (i didn't try very hard to get it started... bascically towed it home and started taking it apart). the head does not have any smashed valves (but it did have a lot of carbon build up), and the bearings on the crank were all in good shape. the block had one slightly scored cylinder wall, and a rebuild with a bore over will take car of that.

hey sorry there silver bullet, i was just trying to do a reality check since i see near mint condition cars same year etc sell for 8000, its not being cheap, its being realistic. But i guess prices very with availability. Seems like a nice car that needs some TLC to make it primo. Hope you sell it.

You people seriously scare me. This is a running 951 for $4500. People on rennlist need to get serious, god, i know people who buy crappy beater cars for more than $4500. Extra engine, bunch of other goodies, I don't really understand what the deal is here. If you go places like Autotrader or any newspaper you can scarely find 85.5+ N/A cars for $4500.

haha no kidding! and all i can do is laugh when i see the 944 turbo pricing post and everyone wants the prices to go up
the funny thing is, not only isit a running 951, but it is a 13 second car on the strip, very fast on the track, and an ok autocrosser (turbolag is killer though...).
i don't really get it either.
i have gotten a ton of offers on all the extra parts and it almost makes me want to part it all out. but as of right now i live in an apartment complex with no way to do such a thing. so i will not be parting anything out. if i get an offer for the spare engine i'll honor that, as well as an offer on just the car.
if worse comes to worse, i'll get some carpet from a junkyard car and ask 6k
