Low RPM and Oil pressure
For some unknown reason my 83' 944 tends to go below 600 in idle and my oil pressure goes to 1. As soon as I ride off, everything is fine, rpms where they should and oil pressure is between 3.5 and 4.5. I have dailed in the rpm screw in the throttle to no avail.
What should I be looking for?

Hi, I have the same problem with my 944 '83. Do you have a solution by now?
For me it helped to adjust the air/fuel flow a little bit (new air filter and setting the idle a little bit higher. Now this problem does not occur so often, but it is still there)
Thx

Go to www.clarks-garage and download the correct idle adjustment procedure. It is much more involved than turning that adjustment screw in. I don't think the oil pressure should drop below 2 bar at a 1000 rpm idle, and then it will increase by 1 bar per 1000rpm as you accelerate (normal), so I don't think you guy's have an oil pressure problem-just an out of adjustment idle-

Depends on the point of view. I read this information and tried to follow it as good as possible. The problem is that the preowner has done something, because the aluminium 'cover' was missing. I think this does not come from this screw. It worked just fine to adjust the idle, but independent from this, my idle problem occurs from time to time.
As far as I know by now this could be a leak in the vacuum hose system or a problem with the fuel. My vacuum hoses should be fine, because they were just checked by me and a workshop (specialized on these cars, this fixed my first problem it was very difficult to get the car started). I think I have a problem in my fuel system and I think it has something to do with some temperature sensors, because this problem does not occur when the car is cold.
