Default WTB: Rear hatch w/ glass

My luck , I was driving through the mall parking lot today and somehow a plastic line hanging from a pole caught on the rear wiper and shattered my entire back glass window . I stopped the car in disbelief I couldn't believe my luck. Cleaning this thing up, and finding a replacement is going to even be more of a headache.

So I'm calling all fellow rennlisters to help me find a rear hatch with the glass, and the rear wiper assembly would help alot but its not necessary. Anything that will be a good fit for a 86 951. Even if I can find a 968 hatch. Anyone have one for sale? Or know anyone, please contact me. Thanks.

There's a ton of these taking up space in peoples garages all over. You just need to find one close.
I've got 2 of them I'd love to get out of my garage, but shipping would be spendy + the chances of making it there intact would be 50/50.
Doesn't Tod84944 live on your end of the world? He probabaly has a few.

I have an extra as well... but again... shipping. They DO NOT SHIP!!! I was talking to Ian (944online) and he told me he almost got one shipped intact. It was put in a crate and all padded up. When the truck driver took it off the truck he just slid it off the back and let it fall to the ground. That was the end of it... almost made it.

Keith, I am looking for one and I am in Northern VA. I will be driving to Charleston SC this weekend, any chance that we can hook up and I could take that off your hands? Does it have a working defrost and a spoiler?

Michael

You got a PM

I have 2 sitting in my garage in upstate New York. One is in the corner collecting dust and the other is still on the car.

I'm hoping I can find someone in the area. In terms of shipping how much are we looking at? If anyone is willing to work something out than I'm def interested. Even a 968 hatch with spoiler will do!

I don't mind paying for shipping aslong as the hatch comes in the same shape it was sent.

Shipping would range from $125-$150 from a good freight company, and if your shipping it have who ever it is build a crate for it and foam-fill the inside. Should cost another $50.

Jason, that doesn't sound too bad considering I don't have that many options

I wish I had alot more local guys with parts. Would have made this search alot more easier. But if someone is willing to give me a good price on a rear hatch I'll be interested in paying for shipping. Even if the person is in the area I'll be willing to pay you money to either find me one, or to drop one off at my house.

I was taking a look at a 968 hatches and they look great. If anyone can help me find on that would be awesome. I wouldn't mind contributing some money to your paypal account for the help

Ditto I keep two around as spares, but the shipping would cost your left nut.

A while back someone posted that he ships a hatch strapped to a pallet, un covered. So they can see exactly what they're dealing with, and it worked for him.

I think thats probably the smartest move, just to send the hatch uncovered so they know exactly what they are moving around.

Brilliant idea!
