edit: some interesting info about 89 fuel pressure regulators
apparently when i changed my fuel pressure regulator it wasn't the 89 one that i need because the 89 uses the same one as the s2 and the 968 . anyway, my car's idle isn't so great. i need to buy it so i was wondering if anyone has one available for that model. and is anyone interested in my other one?

ok here's the new info...early 89's and late 89's are different. the early 89 n/a uses the same fuel pressure regulator as a 944 S. the late 89's use the same fpr's as the S2 and 968. so i checked my engine code and what not, and i need the early 89 fpr because apparently the late 89 had the screw on fuel hose for the fpr. the early 89's still had the clamp on fuel hose for the fpr. the part i need is 0.280.160.263

So then the early '89 uses a 2.5-bar FPR and the late '89 uses a 3.8-bar FPR? Interesting... I assume they have different chip-mappings as well to deal with the higher pressure. There should be a tonne of stock 2.5-bar FPRs laying around...
BTW - how did you manage to fit the late '89 screw-on FPR to your clamp-on fuel hose?

hey danno, the one i have on there now isn't a screw on. it's another fpr from a different n/a that isn't an S. what's the bar pressure for a normal n/a fpr that isn't an S or 89?
although i must say that tomorrow i am calling the dealer to verify all this. a different fpr for a early and late 89 is really weird in my opinion. i had called paragon and talked to jason earlier today and we arrived at the two different fpr conclusion based on the engine codes. so we shall see tomorrow. i'll get back with more info when i get it.

That would be 2.5-bar. However the actual pressure varies with manifold pressure. This is a common problem with people upgrading with my chip-kits. The vacuum line going to the FPR isn't always installed correctly with leaks. Or the rubber Ts ends up with cracks that leak away vacuum. This changes the fuel-pressure from the correct values and you end up with improper air-fuel ratios and bad idle and stumbling under normal usage.

okiedokie i'm confuzled. i called the dealer and they said the fpr for 89 is the same all the way through 95 for the 968. are you sure that the 968 fpr threads on and doesn't clamp on?

Bringing back a thread from the dead;
I have the same problem! Mine is leaking and has part # 0.280.160.263 as listed above printed on it. It is a clamp-on fuel hose style FPR that paragon lists as for the S models. My engine code is M44/11 46k 01517. Also I can't find any information on my fuel damper diaphragm, which is 0.280.161.063.
So whatever became of this? Did you just get a 944s FPR and roll with it?
