Smile 968 or 944T?

Well I'm curious as to whether I should go for the 968 or the 944T if I want to make it into a track car. I like N/A because... well... its naturally aspirated... no turbo power to make it fast... it just is fast. But I like the turbo because its got that gorgeous sound. The 944T looks to be more modifiable on the websites I've found (speed-6.com, paragon products etc) unless I'm not finding the good 968 sites. Anyways, I would just like your opinions, and also which year is the best for 968 and 944T?

Thanks!

Most people have gone the 951 route, do a search for info on the comparisons.

if you ever want to race the car then there is a classing consideration. It is very easy to push a 951 out of stock class. The 968's tend to be easier to keep stock class legal. It is all about the boost. Easy to get more from the 951, but that may also put in a class where you simply can't complete since it takes ALOT of boost. (think 400 hp to keep up)

It really depends on what you are looking for out of the car and what you mean by "track car". If you want to do sanctioned racing (PCA/SCCA etc), take a hard look at the rules before you buy. Turbos have a bunch of hp waiting to be tapped, but doing so will put you in classes that you probably won't be competitive in. If you just want a fun "hot rod", a 951 can be a blast. 968's make better "racers", in my opinion, but again, it really depends on what you want to do with it. 968's are also getting a bit long in the tooth, so the competition is getting tougher each year.

Wanna provide a bit more info on your intended usage?

EDIT: oops, someone types faster than I do...

Regards,

Calling a stock 944 fast is like putting an elevator in an outhouse. It dont belong.

I debated this long and hard for a street car. Then I went for a ride in a turbo after riding in a 968. If you are really going into racing, listen to the racers above.
