Pete, I talked to Paul last night, He has a the full 6 quarts in. he drained and refilled to make sure he was seeing things right. Wow, you can catch oil??-

FWIW, after a spirited hiway run and well at normal operating temp, 5w30 Mobil 1 will be at 2 bar. 0W30 will be just below 2 regardless of ambient temp. (unless very cold, like 30 F or colder)
I notice a higher oil pressure reading in the winter until properly warmed up on the same viscosity oil.
(At 4 degrees my 5w30 Mobil1 oil is probably like caramel out there today. )

Is it around 5 on the gauge at startup? It should still idle around 2-3 when fully warmed up.

If there is a problem I would look at the oil pressure sender and the OPRV first.

OK, cold start idle psi is 4-4.3 bars easily goes to 5 with more rpm.

I guess I wasn't clear earlier. I had 6 1/2 qts 10/30 semi syn. in the car at first, drained 4 of that out , added 4 qts 20/50. Now I have a mix of 4 qts 20/50 and 2 1/2 qts 10/30 semi syn. in the car for a total of 6 1/2 qts to fill it.

Last night I put on another new filter and same problem.

What I was trying to get away from with the 10/30 semi syn. was the cold start psi build time and how long it takes the 20/50 to thin at cold temp.

During the winter I usually run a mix of 3 qts castrol 10/30 and 3 1/2 qts 20/50, both dino. oil.

I guess it's what you get for trying to be nice to your car.

I should know better.

i had an oil pressure of 1 at idle just before my rod bearings spun. may consider replacing those before driving the car hard anymore.

Sage advice.

Time for a 951 for Paul.
