Default Heater Valve Vaccum Line

My heater isn't working at all, browsing through the PET and making sure i got all the vacuum lines, i found that the vacuum line for the heater valve has it's own part number (not shared like some other vacuum lines) and costs $40 new.

Is this a realistic price for a very short vacuum line? also i was told (and ive seen) that vaccum line in orange, that is the OEM colour, unlike the standard black lines that are filling the engine bay.

Any ideas? is this 'special' line required and could cause faults in the system?

If mine was to break, I'd replace it with 50 cents of generic vacuum hose.

On mine if there is no vacuum it goes to full heat, have you checked the clips under the dash to see if the blend door is opening to let heat into the car?.

Paul: The clips are fine but the blend door is not moving at all when setting from full cool to full heat. The heater valve arm doesnt move also.

When the diaphram goes bad the valve stays open.

OK, what about the motor that opens the blend door?

On my 87 S, if the fuse blows for the heater control, it defaults to full heat also.

The valve is stuck closed, when i apply vacuum to the FPR it opens, but no heat.

What fuse are you talking about for the heater control??? i have no heat at all that is the problem so..........

The arm (where the famour heater clip is) doesn't move when i switch from cold-to-hot. That motor is a 'new' one, i also adjusted that arm referring to the factory manual (that is called the mixing-chamber control motor, right?)

On my 87 S there is a fuse in the panel under the hood for the climate control, but when it has blown, it defaulted to full hot.

When you move the **** to turn up the heat and open the blend door is there power actually going to the motor?
