Default Running rich under higher revs...

I have noticed that there is a rich gas smell whenever I accelerate past 3500 rpms....it doesn't last for long, but it always does it. Is this because of the chips and wastegate?

Chips, not wastegate.

Do you have a catalytic converter or no?

Car warm or cold?

I'm guessing it is one of two things,

1. the header crack when the car is cold and you are getting a wiff of that exhaust smell coming into the cabin

2. That car does not have a charcoal canister in the fender well, this could add to the gas odor.

but i am 99% sure you are not smelling the car running rich.

Does your heater work? are the two 'nipple' metail vacuum lines connected to both the climate control and heater vlave?

Im asking because i had this problem it, it was an issue with the climate control system. So im just trying to nail this down a bit
