Now what exactly is limited slip differential? WOW i feel ignorant anyways... not all turbos had them right?

LSD is similar to what some call "posi-traction". It's send power to both wheels instead slipping power to one or the other (if you've ever gotten stuck in the snow or mud with one wheel spinning you probably wished you had LSD). The LSD is option code 220 I believe. I know that it came standard on the US spec '88 Turbo S and the '89 Turbo and was an option on most others. It is pretty rare in NA cars and is highly coveted for track cars.

I don't have a 6speed, but in my 944S2 (5-speed tranny). Most of the tracks I drive I top out around 130 max. The top of 4th is around 120. 5th is good for 150-ish. And I'm not talking about short tracks - we're talking Pocono, Watkins Glen, VIR.

Even if I were a more aggressive (and faster) driver, I doubt I'll be able to top 150 on the straigths of these tracks with my car. In a 968, even with 36 more ponies, I still doubt you'll really need 6th.
