Plus a knife is much more up close and personal...I can teach anyone to shoot well. But it takes a real
pro to be skilled with a knife. Man...you guys are bringing back far to many memories of my Marine days. Now , if you will excuse me, I need to take my medication.

The last gunfight I went to I showed up in my 951 with my dog brandishing a knife. . . Does that help?

First of all i never said anything bout using a 951 as a drag car, i dont even have a 951 i have a 84 n/a so i dont see the need for flaming while i'm tryn to ask a simple question and educate myself about why its hard for these cars to get off the line. So when i am asked i can give an educated answer explaining why, not just "Its not made for launching man its just for auto-x. I dont remeber my title being "Damnit why wont my 44 run like a top fuel drag car?"

For everyone out there who drags/launches hard on the 944 cars, here is a tip:

1) Rev it to 5,000rpm
2) Drop the clutch
3) Smoke your tires and your clutch
4) Make sure that before you do this, have some serious ca$h with you
5) Shift from 1st to 2nd agressively
6) Do this a few times, get yourself a new clutch/axle/cv and probably a new r&p at this stage.

Happy?

Problem solved?

Danno: If you could launch from 0-60 in 4.8s, the how the heck could you do a 1/4 mile in over 12 seconds?

Bear in mind that many R&D magazines claim a 1/4 mile time on a STOCK 951 in 13.5s

calm down man. no one was flaming you. they were just stating that the car wasn't meant for drag racing. that's it. if you want to see someone really flamed browse some other posts. but anyway, i hope your question was answered to your satisfaction.

Oh, and lose, not loose..... just FYI.

My spelling aside, I stand by what I said. You may not like my example, but it is true. You bring the knife, I'll bring the gun. Winner takes all. BTW: As a retired VETERAN, I'm a qualified EXPERT Sharpshooter with the M-1, M-14, M-16, Remington 12 gauge pump, Baretta 9mm, HK MP-4, and HK MP5.

Now that we have that settled, my intention was to get the original poster to think for a minute about what he was asking. I replied that he was using the wrong tool, and I stand by that statement as well. A 951 was never intended to pull hole shots. You can do it, but you had better be willing to pay the price for your folly.

Bull**** meter just went off the scale.

Show me a single magazine that shows a bone stock 951 doing the 1/4 mile in 13.5.

Magazine: Excellence
Issue: April 2003
Article Title: Market Update
Pages: 95-99
Pages Scanned/Posted: 96, 97

Enjoy:

Just bear in mind that these kind of people drive the **** out of the car, they don't care if they break axles, burn clutches etc....

Heat is fine, seriously its bearable. Weather now is just a beauty and gets cold at nights. Heck it just rained cats and dogs earlier in the evening.

The performance figures quoted are for a 88TurboS/89 951, not a 86/87/88 951.

TurboS 0-60 times should be 5.5s correct?

I am NOT saying that i believe everything i read, heck there should be a typo there. But i was saying that a stock 944 Turbo could do 13.5s in 1/4 mile times, that was the case.

Well Ive never seen a k26/6 stock 951 quoted to have a 162mph top speed. Only the S and 89 cars, 5.5-5.7's, close enough. Most articles Ive read show 6.1 for a stock turbo.
