Calling New York area Rennlisters
#16
The new car sounded really good...a couple of dents, but mechanically it seemed good aside for some loose ends (vac lines) due (I think) to the 86 engine in an 87 car.
It had a good amount of milky sludge under the oil cap, but hopefully it was just because of a lot of short trips. It seemed like an awful lot to be just from short trips though, he'll know soon though.
This is what Rennlist is all about.

.......The word on the street is Moosmin Saskatchewan. With almost 2 feet of snow that fell in the area in the last few days, I'm expecting Zero10 to arrive in Calgary tomorrow or the next pending roads and driving conditions.
Happy New Year All!!!

Greetings all.
Finally arrived in Calgary as of about 2 hours ago. Had a minor problem on HWY 1 west of medicine hat. A coolant hose slipped off the turbo, and all of my nice antifreeze poured out. Didn't catch it until it had already overheated, but there doesn't seem to be any collateral damage.
I think I'm 2 days behind, but no big deal.
It does indeed have an 86 motor in an 87, but that doesn't really worry me, I would rather not have the spring tensioner, I like being able to adjust things.
The oil really needed a change, and I would say it needs one again. This car seems to foul the oil pretty quickly. Is this normal for a turbo? It also went through about 2.5L on the trip. Once I left the hotel, before it over heated, it was blowing a LOT of blue smoke, had me rather worried, but the next time I ran it, no smoke at all, and it's been smoke-less ever since. Perhaps it was because the turbo was -30C?
Found a lot of other little gremlins on the trip, but nothing serious on the car. Driving with those tires was hell. I almost ate some rocks on Adrial's driveway. That first turn's a doozie! I was just crawling on the driveway too. Other than that, the trip was rather un-eventul, which, for once was a good thing!
I don't know if anybody else has seen this, but I think it was on I-94, passing through ohio, there is a sign, that reads 'Exit 12 Land of make believe'. That gave us one hell of a laugh. Couldn't have done this without Adrial. Found out why the front sway bar is off, the brackets are broken, so I'll need to track down some replacements.
I don't even know what else to say, I am rather tired, will post the rest of the adventure at a later time.

Oh dear.. I just spent 30 minutes typing out a whole great story about the trip, and my wireless keyboard, in it's death throws, started punching random hot keys, and deleted the whole thing. I am simply too angry now to re-write it.
Jon Moeller, sorry for the lack of description, it's an aftermarket sway bar, with some really strange mounts, I'll try to take some pics in the morning of it to post up here.

Nah, biggest problem was nearly freezing to death 5 miles outside of Medicine Hat. That really sucked. I've never been so cold in my life.
That aside, #2 was the keyboard, lol.
I have to do some work on it right now, so I'm heading out to the garage to go hunt some electrical gremlins.
