Found a black 86 951...More pics Page 3

Sweet looking car. Very similar to mine, '86, 55k miles, and that goofy turbo sign that actually looks cool at night.
For the sake of finding something to mention about these pictures, that engine bay looks dirty, but it is black. Just playing devil's advocate
Get that PPI somehow someway!

Mike thanks alot for your help.
The guy is going to email me the VIN so i can run a carfax. He said the previous owner also lived in AZ so its been there all its life. He bought it with 40K 4 years ago and has not changed the belts. I called a Porsche dealer in his area and they said 1600 for the whole belt job, waterpump rollers etc... 395 for a 2 page PPI. He is going to take it in to have the PPI done and they will fax it to me. The first thing i will do is the remove the rear porsche light and mount the plate there, take it to a shop to have the holes plugged and sanded. Then some wheels. I really wanted a red 951 but this one is really clean and has not been abused. No mods and the guy seems like a honest person. But i still have my suspicions, 8K seems a little to cheap for a nice car like that. But if everything checks out ill take it. Then i got to get it shipped to IN.
Take a look at the pics as best as you guys can and let me know if you notice anything out of place. I appreciate everyones help. Again thanks,
Antonio

Anybody in AZ here on rennlist that could take a look at the car?
And what are the major differences between a 86 and a 87+ 951 other then wheel offset and airbags? Any difference in the engine compartment, suspension etc..?

Spring tensioner on the timing belt (or hydraulic, depends on year).
Hmm, had a front clip replaced. Did they replace the inner fenders and everything? That would really worry me. I would take a good look for signs of the work they did.

Put some fuchs on that thing and you are good to go. Sounds like a very good deal. Even with belts and pump you are still talking $9600. To me, that still leans 2-3K in your favor if the PPI checks out and that exterior/interior looks as good in person as it does in the pics.

If the car is an S and the repair work was done well it could be a good find for someone.

Antonioali, the black car does look really good.
The only negatives I see are:
1. The rear light panel. Trash that thing and move the license plate back where it belongs. Have the body guy who painted your other car fill the holes and repaint the bumper and rear panel.
2. The extra door speakers. As long as you aren't a stickler for originality those aren't a problem.
3. The roll up hatch cover is gone. No biggie, they hardly ever work anyway.
If the PPI looks good you should snap it up.

ill get the rearlight bar of and have the body guy plug those holes and make it look like new. I did not notice the roll up hatch, i never used it on the n/a. And those speakers don't look as bad as most of the ones i seen bolted on the door. However if i do take that out i would need a new doorpanel to replace it with wouldn't i? Also, isnt the speedo supposed to be 180mph on a turbo? It looks like 160 in the pic.
I sent him a email and told him i found a dealer near his location. If the PPI is good i will buy the car and pay for the ppi. Im just waiting for the VIN.

Car looks great Antonialli !! Now you get to pull tint off that back glass, as it looks purple to me. And I'm not sure about that rear backplate myself, but that's obviously up to you. Hope it works out okay, nice car man !!

Here's the pic Antonio. The part you are asking about is the plastic ground effect on the front passenger quarter panel. Nearly every 951 I've seen has these curled up like that. I got bored one day and decided to heat mine up with a heat gun and reshape them so they fit properly. I don't think it's a result of improper jacking.
