it helps if you can open port numbers ( in firewall ) that the torrent client uses.

also, it is propper to leave the file accessable for others ( this is called seeding )

I get up to 180 K/sec on Overnet..

To use bittorrent effectively you should change the listening port to something random above 15000 or so, as many ISPs are blocking commonly used ports (such as 6881). You are throttled slightly by how much you upload, although you don't need a strict 1:1 download/upload ratio to get high speeds - it's considered polite, however. If you have a complex personal network, it will generally be slower than it otherwise would be. It can take days to make enough connections to download even small files if few people are leaving the file available, but in many cases it is significantly faster than other options.

I strongly recommend using a Bittorrent client. I really liked Torrentstorm (for PC only, AFAIK) as it used Bittornado protocol extensions, but I currently use Azureus because its PnP port allocation works great with my router - so if you are directly connected to the net, I recommend you try for a client that uses Bittornado, unless some other protocol extension has surpassed that in the year or so since I went looking for clients.

Speeds will always vary some, depending on your connection, your ISPs network, and how many seeders vs downloaders. I often see speeds over 100k/sec on big popular torrents.

If you have firewalls (software, hardware) or routers, forward the ports. That will speed it up a lot.

Last I checked, there were a few hundred people seeding this.

Anybody want to upload this to a faster, non bittorrent needed server? I think most of us non bittorrent & 56k users would appreciate it.

I've downloaded it but now I can't play it. What player are you guys using? I tried DIVX and Windows Media Player...no luck.
