Cool CANNOT BELIEVE THIS

This is a lil off topic i guess i dunno move it if ya have to.

It all started when i was driving my moms car 02 camry and a dog jumped out and i swirved went into a ditch took out 2 mailboxes and a fence. We take it to the dealer ship to get it fixed. Total damage 5k whole front suspension neede to be replaced along with front bumper and headlights and all that good stuff. Now the "fix" it and 3 weeks later we ge the car good everythings back to normal i'm goin to night school take the highway speed limits 55 i ussually go 60. Get to school time to go i hop in the car, decide to take a back road 25mph instead of the road i ussually take 45mph. half way down that paved back road the car started shaking real bad like goin 70 with horrible alinment. Suddently the left front tire kicks right and starts draggin i didn't know it had turned right. Thought i had a flat. i get out and already i'm like piseed but its ok right just get the jack and change the tire i look at the tire before i went to get the jack cause thats what we all do. The FREAKIN TIE ROD CAME OFF THE HUB ASSEMBLY!!!!! now i'm thinking these SOB's didn't tighten the bolt or put a cotter pin on there.

I call a tow they take it to the Dealer Bourne Toyota. They call us next day, "Which side did you say it was?" drivers side "um theres nuthing wrong with it" we temporarly put it in the hole to straighten the wheel to get it on the flat bed. "oh we'll look at it again" "oh yea there is a cotter pin in there though" um no last time i was under the car last night there was no sign of anything that was holding that thing in there. they been givin us BS bout the whole thing dad and i are goin up there tomorow. There service really sucks

What gets me about that is you paid $5000 and they didn't even check the work carefully enough to notice something as important as a tie rod end without a cotter pin.

I'm wondering if your dealer freind just negated any chance of a lawsuit - "problem, what problem?"

That is ridiculous. First, tell them how unhappy you are. Then file a complaint with the better business bureau.

That is an extreme safety hazard...remind them that broken tie rods and ends have KILLED people in the past, and seeing that you have this nearly new car that this is totally unacceptable.

What gets me is that they have the nerve to take the situation so lightly. I'm sure they wouldnt have takin it so lightly if i had wrecked on the highway goin 60 miles an hour.

Then file a complaint with the better business bureau.
That's a total waste of time. Go to the office of the attorney general of your state. The BBB has no power.

Yeah, That happened with a guy I worked with, he didn't tighten the rod end on the boss' wife's car, it came off on a twisty back road on her. The boss told him he was lucky it wasn't a customer's car, that would be a huge lawsuit! That came from a service manager about his wife's car. She didn't wreck it tho.

That's friggin ridiculous. Toyota sucks. I say go buy a Hummer H2, engage the "destruction mode" and drive it through their dealership and pulverize them all. Seriously though, either find a new dealership or a good independent, these monkeys are obviously unreliable, dangerous to your health, and can't do the job right. Don't waste your time and money there.

this is why it's always good to have a camera with you so you can take pictures. factual evidence = no possibility of denial

I think the best thing would be a camera phone... cuz we all carry cell phones anyway, now we can have cameras too for times like this when we need to prove something (yes I really DID see a 959, or yes my tie rod really DID come loose!), and for the phones with no flash, we all have flashlights in out cars anyway, right? right?

My son had the right front wheel come off at about 70 MPH just after picking his car up from Midas. after a brake job. Of course they denied everything, but ended up paying for the repairs, 4 or 5k, a rental car for what ended up being over a month. The moral is they will probably take care of you, even if they won't admit they could have made a mistake. Ask them for whatever compensation you think is reasonable.

I know a guy that had some front end work done on a SEMI-TRACTOR and the front end was "loose" when he left. He went back when he got home the next week and Freightliner forgot to tighten the center drag link and put the cotter pins back in. The dealership acted like it was no big deal , just tightened it back up and said sorry.

Can you say 80,000 lbs out of control?
