and btw, an s3 would be reffering to matt olde's 89 944 with a 968 engine in it. uh oh, but hey, i guess a 968 isn't even a real porsche unless it's a 968 turbo s am i right? get the hell of your high pedestal already.

oh i'm sorry, what's that in you signature? a MERE 968, not a turbo S? WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?!?! *cough* 914
(sorry xboost no offense to you at all...what you do with cars is awesome and i can't wait to see what you do with the two you have right now)
First of all, I never bragged about the cars I own (including the 914 which would run circles around your n/a 944 on any road or track!!!)
Personally, I would never spend that much $ on a 968 Turbo S, because I don't think it's worth it! That's why I'm slowly moving into the "all 911" territory!
No need to get pissed off!
I simply included my opinion of the n/a 944 vs the 951.
Oh, and the 951 doesn't just "have a blower added". It's much more than that.

Damn, it must be the side effect of the 993..........Well I guess I should just give it away, since it's such a piece of crap, and lending heavily to my poor judgement, right? I guess that 993 sure is "retarding" me away from those n/a 944's!
Yeah, I better get rid of it before my engine overheats! Yeah, cause Porsche forgot to put a radiator and water pump in the 993! What a piece of crap!

(Any takers for a FREE '95 993 white / black leather with 51k miles??? I think it needs a radiator and water pump. Oh, and the timing belt and balance shaft belts need to be changed! Oh wait, I opened the hood the other day, and there was NO ENGINE under the hood, so I have no idea how it runs, and where the engine noise and 280hp is coming from.
I gotta do the right thing here, and let all negative aspects of my life go........)

968 Turbo S. What do those go for, $60k+? I can't afford one, and even if I could, I wouldn't buy one, because I think it's WAY overpriced.

For $60k+, I'd much rather have 1 951 with 450+whp and full suspension upgrades and $40k in my pocket. Or 1 stock '96 993TT. Or dump $30k in my '95 993.
For $30k in mods, I think I can (I know I can) make it a better car than a 968 Turbo S..........
I'm sure most other owners who have modded their 993's would agree!

I did.
Sometimes it amazes me just how small minded this forum can be. Whenever modifying a 944 is mentioned, many here go a little nuts saying how it's not worth it, it won't work, it will never be as good as a 951, keep it stock, etc.

It seems that as soon as someone mentions increasing the NA's power they are flamed.

Where is the ingenuity and innovation in that? The 944 is a nice car, but in the end it's just a car. If someone wants to modify it, why shouldn't they? They may just come up with something that benefits all of us.

The 944 can be made to go faster and better than a 951 if the owner has the skill, time, and desire to make it so.

I marvel at how stodgy and close minded this forum can be at times.

Ok, I'm done.

Well, I own a beautifull 74 914 and a NA 944. Both absolutly perfect condition with proper tires, etc. My 914 has yet to beat my 944 on either auto-x or hill climbs. And yes, I race them both.

Your attitude has almost made the required changes to fit right in with the egotistical 911 crowd. Now you just need to further your training by calling all 944s, 924s and 968s, "not real Porsches".

I would love if someone would give me a 911, 993, 996.... I could then sell it and make my 944 faster with the money... Overpriced, overrated, leaf blowers...

Wasn't it Derek Daley (sp?) who stated the front engine Porsches are what he preferes, because the engine is in the "proper place" and the handling is naturally better?

I've always wondered if the same amount of resources and energy were put into the front engine cars as is in the 911 (the physics is just incorrect) what they would be. If porsche can make the *** heavy 911 handle the way it does, imagine what could be done with an equally balanced car.

So if you drive a 911, it puts you in "the egotistical 911 crowd".
What is that supposed to mean? Leaf blower??? HA HA HA!
If it wasn't for the Porsche 911, there would be a lot of VW 944's and Audi 928's! And then what would you be driving?
I know the stock 944/951/968 outhandles most stock 911's right of of the box, especially when compared to a stock 914 (unlike your 914, mine is NOT stock, and if you knew the potential of the 914, you wouldn't argue this! Let's see: to begin with, the 914 is a 2000 lb, mid engine car vs 988 n/a, a 2800lbs front engine car........should I go on with examples?)
You have any idea what most Boxsters (mid engine) do to a 911 or 944 on the track?

This argument has become totally silly. Now we are comparing modified 914's to 944's? Come on, anything can be made better than what you are comparing it to by modifying it and throwing money at it. A 2800lb 944 can be made into a lightweight track monster with copious amounts of money.

If it were up to me, I'd have one of each different car Porsche made. But until I win the lottery or become a dictator of an oil-rich country, that just isn't going to happen. So I have one, and it is the one that is best suited to me. If I want to dump endless loads of cash into it, that's my business. No one has any right to say boo to me about it.

I think that we should all just agree that we all are passionate about the marque and stop this in-bred bickering.

If you haven't had any takers on the 993 yet, I can drive down this weekend to pick it up. (By "you" I meant poster 2 above me)

The occupation about 944 with a 968 motors in it a 944S3 is not logical to me, its aeroespaciais of the science!!!

No, your attitude makes you fit into the "egotistical 911 crowd". Your posts all have a condecending tones to them toward anyone who is passionate about the 944 and wants to make it better/faster/lighter/etc., and the superiority of the 911 series.

"Leaf blower" referres to the 911's antiquated form of engine cooling. Air cooling should have died once HP output crossed 100hp.

Actually, the 928 was designed to replace the 911....

There would not be a 911 today if it were not for egotistical 911 owners who stopped development of the 968 turbo (which kicked the crapp out of 911 turbos on the track), 928s and other water cooled, front engine Porsches. It is the whole "Harley Davidson" mentallity and it makes me sick. Harley owners have held the company to very poor designs because they just don't want them to change. 911 owners did the same to Porsche. Talk to very respected racers like Darek D. (you've heard of him, right?) who freely admit that the 944 design is a better design, and handles better. If Porsche had continued with development of the 968 series with turbos, V-6's etc, there simply would be no 911 today. The 911 design is BAD. Accept it. You do not know how much technology is put into 911's to keep them on the race track and how much skill it takes to drive them at their limit. Sure they are fast, but if that ammount of R&D was put into the 944 series, they would be faster.

Look at the new Corvette (yeah, I know, but I am making a point here). They have adopeted the front engine, rear transaxle layout and they are kicking some serious butt on the race course, making the 911s look like old VW's. After driving my friends C5 Z06, it is actually making me rethink the Porsche sitting in my garage. The new C6 Z06 427 with 500hp, 475ft/lbs of torque and only weighing 3175lbs for UNDER $60k is making me think about it

I am very aware of this, but in your post you did not compare a modified 914 to a stock 944. Go stock to stock, or modified to modified and things will be different. The 944 has perfect weight balance, as does the 914. Given the same ammount of suspension mods, and the same HP per LB, I bet the 944 would still come out on top. And if it dosn't, it would be close, really close.

My complaints actually centered around your attitude towards people who love and want to modify the 944na. Does it make more sense to buy a 951? In some (most) cases, yes. But this hobby does not make sense anyway, so why argue it? If you want to make sense, drive a hybrid. If you want to have passion, enjoy your car and don't bash others who enjoy their car in a different way than you do.
