No pun intended, guys! I'm simply stating my personal opinions.

When we're talking about front engined water cooled Porsches vs the air cooled 911, calling someone "egotistical" takes on a more jealous note.

I know Porsches very well. Most of them that is! No, I've never owned a 904GTS or a Carrera GT or a 959!

So, as you put it: "Leaf blower" referres to the 911's antiquated form of engine cooling. Air cooling should have died once HP output crossed 100hp."
Really? Is that why I have yet to see a n/a 944 (bolt on what ever you want, turbo, SC, NOS) with additional 400hp ADDED to the stock block ? It's been done numerous times with the n/a 3.2 Carrera's!
You obviously don't know the potential of these "leafblowers".

Are there that many stupid 911 owners out there?
Is that why the 911 has consistently held it's value better than the 944, 968, and 928. (The 928 being the worst example of depreciation.)
Please clarify this, since everyone who owns a 911 must be stupid and not know a thing! What should I do? Sell it and buy a couple n/a 944's? Or maybe a Camaro or Mustang??? Why not a Miata, since it can be made to handle better than a 944 for less $!

"Actually, the 928 was designed to replace the 911...." Yeah, and it sure did, huh? I'm actually thinking of putting a down payment on a new 2005 928. But wait, it was discontinued in '95 along with the 968!
But the 911 lives on.
And here's a new one for you: why was the Boxster introduced? Because it was better handling and cheaper to build than the 968 or the 928! And what other mass produced mid engine car did Porsche make (that's been kicking *** on the track in the last 10 years)? The air cooled 914!
And yes, I should have mentioned that my 914 is modified, but why did he have to "dog" my poor old 914 before he even knew what type of mods it has?
"How much skill it takes to drive a 911...." Well, it sure wasn't designed for 14 y/o girls, and some skill is required. I guess you'll never understand the 911 and the rewarding experience you get with it. Pity.

why go to a thread just to say bad things? how about everyone keeping their mouths shut, or giving tips instead of opinions. just go away and dont look back. theres no point in keeping the thread going just to be negative toward each other.

C'mon, Kenny, you just don't understand. We have to prove that my opinions and preferences are right and everyone else's opinions and preferences are wrong! Duh!

This is exactly your words that pissed me off. "buy a real Porsche".

You said it yourself. In your own words. All Porsches that do not have real "Porsche Performance" are not worth owning.

Go back to your 911 buddies and leave us non Porsche owners alone. We do not need or want your opinion.

I own a 944na because I want to. Not because I can not afford to own anything different. I have test drove 993, and 996s and did not like them. And yes, I can afford them. I can afford multiple "thems". I am actually in the process of deciding which Cayenne to buy, the Turbo or S, or wait a year and hopefully they will come out with VW's TDI V-10. Yes, I can afford it.

I personally believe that any car that Porsche decides to put a Porsche Crest on the hood of, is a "Real Porsche". And that even means a 70hp 914 to an SUV or an old farm tractor.

Wait... does this mean that the 356 isn't a "real Porsche" since it "can't out perform stock minivans and ricers with fart cans"?

By D993's description, no, it is not a real Porsche. Neither is the Spyder, 912, most early 911's, 924, 944, and first generation Boxters, because it only had 201bhp and there are alot of Hondas etc, out there with more power...

Well, I guess I'd better go to my dad's 911 and strip the Porsche badges off it. It's a shame, I love that car...

Is it ok if I pay you $500 to come pick it up?
I have some $ now since I sold my '94 M030 968, and I can start with a n/a 944.
Let's see:
$4000 for the car.
$900 for headers and exhaust (15hp)
$100 for intake (8hp)
$1200 for a MAF package (20hp?)
$5500 for a stage 2 Intercooled SC kit (80hp)
$500 for larger injectors
$900 for suspension
$900 for brakes
$1200 for wheels and tires
Wow! Over $15k for a 270hp 944! I can't wait to spend my $ so wisely!

You just can not grasp the thought that some people LIKE 944s can you?

You can not understand that people like to modify the car they LIKE. Heck, do you understand anyone modifying ANY car? This hobby is not logical, it is a hobby.

I thought that was going to happen. That's what my stepmom has been saying, and when I walked into her garage to find it "not there" I thought it had been done. It turns out that it's at her brother's house, and it still is as far as I know.

The good news is that it gave me an opportunity to accurately gauge which car I'd rather have. And since I didn't regret it's loss, well, I think that speaks volumes for which car I prefer...

Basically, with me going back to school full-time, the only way I could keep the 911 was at the expense of the 944. While the 911 was my dad's car, the 944 is my car. The good news is that the 944's "cheaper" costs of ownership allowed me to also buy a Miata to supplement the 944.
