Default Baltimore Area shops?

I am looking for some reccomendations on Baltimore area shops. I have used GT Performance and I was happy with them. Someone one at a local Porsche get together mentioned that there is a shop in the area (Northern Baltimore County) that focuses on 944's more than 911's. Anyone have the info on the shop?

TIA,
Chuck

Hey Chuck, I use Ralphs Auto Service in Reisterstown, a nice ten minute ride from where your office is. Ralph is really a stand-up guy and will shoot you straight, I've been dealing with him for four years now. Tommy is his 944 guru. His number is 410-526-2500. There is another place where somebody took my old 944 to get a PPI done. That was Cignatta Motor Works. They race a couple 944s and '24s. They probably do nice work...but I don't care for them too much there. Their number is 410-679-7600. Anything wrong with your 951?

Thanks Ethan! Go to hear from you!
I think Cignatta was the one I was thinking of. I believe you said your only beef with them was a friendliness type of thing. If I'm wrong, please reply.

Anyway, not a thing wrong with it. I need to get the oil changed and I would like someone who really knows the cars to give it a once over. I've had the car for 7 months now and I just want to make sure everything is the way it is supposed to be. Unless one of you guys wants to come over....

Yeah, I think they are arrogant. It may have been something to do with nit picking the hell out of my 944 also. Anyway, I haven't been on here hardly at all recently. I got a new job a couple months ago, plus my S2 has been taking a nap from daily driving. It needs belts, waterpump, reseal, blah blah, the never ending expensive list, and I got a beater car for the 70 mile round trip commute. Let us know where you choose to take your car.
X 944 X - I thought I recognized your "name" from somewhere! I haven't had my car in redcently, but I think it was $75 an hour.

I've dealt with Cignatta's for 6 years and I think they're great. I had problems finding someone I could trust, than I found them. I don't think I could have found anyone better. I don't think it's fare to judge someone like that...I really think you should give them another chance...they really are great guys.

As an aside, my father just informed me that our S failed emissions again after we went through and fixed some vacuum problems. I still think it's the cat, but I guess I haven't sold him on this yet. Plus, I've been so busy with other stuff that I really haven't had time to do much on it.

Anyway, apparently when you fail, the inpsection station will give you a list of "recommended" shops, and the only one for Porsche was Valley Motors. He called them and sent me this e-mail:

I called Valley and the Porsche head mechanic said they did not have any expertise on a car that old.* He recommended Ralph on Owings Mill Blvd who said he thought he could help.
Bwaahahahaha... Moral of the story, don't take it to Valley Motors. Never been to Ralph's, I came to the decision this summer that from here on out I am doing everything myself.

Valley Motors wouldn't even give my 951 an oil change. I love my sales guy there, I love the cars they sell, but the service is HORRIFIC. I could tell some stories....
