Redline lightweight shockproof - Cherry or butterscotch?
I picked up some Redline Lightweight Shockproof gear oil off eBay. Gonna track the car and want something serious in there.
Anyways, putting it in today and it looks like a butterscotch milkshake. A bit chilly (30F) in the garage today, but I expected a red, clear oil.
Does this sound right? Is it a gear lube and an ice cream topping?

No experience with lightweight, I run Heavy, but it was a blood-red, almost milky fluid. It will not be clear, as it has solid dispersed lubricants within it. Yours is probably fine.

Thanks, Sam. Makes me feel a bit better as we're driving the car to Grandma's on the new fill.
My kid says it looks the color of mustard. Oh, and it's the "Superlight" Shockproof Gear Oil.

Redline says no to shockproof in the 944 tranny - a reason we don't even list it. I posted the specifics some time ago here - should be in the archives.

Ah. Shoulda done more homework. But at 4 quarts for $24, delivered, figured it would be worth doing.
Checking their web site, I'm thinking this will do well for me over the next 5 months. Won't be tracking it until Aprial and will be driving it during a Minnesota winter. Certainly -10F mornings and could be down to -25F.
It's not for high temps so it's got to be outta there before doing any 1/2 hour DE sessions. The fluid that was drained looked awful, but no chunks or flakes. If I drain this and re-fill with a MT-90, or maybe their 75w90NS, at least it'll be nice and clean for the season.
Thanks, Skip!
