Default Another Stereo Question

Just looking for some opinions. In my '87 944S I have 3" Boston Acoustics component speakers in the front and 4x6 Infinity plate speakers in the rear along with a KLA sub in the rear passenger cubby. My '84 944 had Infinity 5 1/4 inch components in the front with the same set up in the rear. I seems to me that the 3" speakers now do not give me as full a sound as the 5 1/4's did in my old 944. i was wondering if I changed the rears to 6 1/2's if it would give me a fuller sound or would they just overpower the fronts even more?

I would also be interested if there is anybody who has installed 5 1/4 or 6 1/2 inch speakers in the front. I can just buy new woofers and crossovers, the tweeters are the same for all sizes.

thanks in advance

No, the 6.5's in back would just overpower the fronts more. You can fit a 4x6 like stock up front, but I haven't heard of putting a 5.5 there. The 3" will always have very little to no bass becaue they are too small to produce sound waves that small - it's just how they are designed.
You will need a bigger front peaker to compensate for this.
