I didnt burnout or dump the clutch when i did that
It was a nissan maxima 1998 SE and a Ford Focus SVT
Beat them both
I did, however keep the clutch in a little bit extra to get a peppier start. No burnouts though...
but wait I forgot that there are people on this board who are always right no matter what so i guess im gonna back off this thread right now before I get proved wrong again

Hey Guys:
You are all correct in your own right! I started this thread to get some ideas on how to prioritize work on my car ('89 S2). Your input on Driver's Ed for Driver skills "upgrades" and Mechanical "upgrades" are both great.
Judging by the responses, it's great to see how passionate everybody is about their Porsche and driving... let's not take things too personally as I think everyone has something validity to their statements and beliefs.
Thanks again for all of your advice and keep it comin'! I find RENNLIST as one of my best "upgrades" towards my p-car ownership!
Cheers,
Chase

My perspective is not a stock 944 but a rather stock 944S. Not sure what money as an object would be in a dollar figure so (in order of importance)
under $1000 stuff
1.) Limited Slip Differential
2.) Front Shocks & Coil over kit
3.) Wheels (smallest dia. your visual tastes can bear - I know its not popular around here - and lightest weight; I'd love to be able to run a 15" Fuchs personally)
$1000-$2000 stuff
1.) Rear coil overs w/ the inverted KONI 2812s
2.) Custom welded roll hoop/race seats/harnesses (track/auto-x use)
3.) One of those MAP/MAF setups (never bothered too much w/ it - it was out of any practical price point for what I do w/ the car)
in the end, its going to come down to what you want the car to do and its uses. I think folks get overly concerned w/ big brake kits, power upgrades, ecu changes, even gear changes w/out much of a necessity for it. The guys that are talking about learning the car on the track are speaking sense for my sensibilities - its really the best forum to find out what the car and driver can do (be it on a drag strip, an auto-x lot, a race track).
Personally, tires and brakes (pads) are a.) the most worn and b.) provide the biggest gains you will ever see in a car on the track from my perspective. Ironically, if money were still no object, I highly doubt I'd put a big brake kit, buy 17" rims or put any sort of wings on my car - I think its just ways to slow the car down. Just me though.
If money were really no object, I'd suggest pulling the tags off and putting some ITS/944 CUP decals on it. You get that route, I got some ideas on your top 3 items, then the next 182 or so
