Default What is this Vac line for?

The vac line behind the engines cam tower...this is on a 951. The line is behind the cam tower...to the side of the engine harness boot, it is red and goes into the firewall with a black L shaped connector. What is it for? If this is unplugged would the engine start and die? Thanks!

There are two that fit that description. If memory serves, one is attached to the heater control valve (the plastic gizmo that likes to leak coolant into your flywheel inspection hole) near the back of the cam tower and the other attaches to the t-connection on the line that runs across the firewall. I don't believe that disconnecting either would cause the car to die, but they may cause the car to run poorly and the one connected to the heater valve would affect your climate control system function.
