Re: the shape of the header panel, it doesn't bother me as this is a track car. The panel on the car is very functional as it is light (fiberglass) and has the vents that allow air to go directly to the filter/intake. I don't want to replace it with the nonvented stock panel (which I have) or spend money on something less functional just for the sake of aesthetics.
Re: the last post about weights, I think the early 944s had lighter seats than the later ones for one thing. Re: why the 924 was lighter, I think because it had less body sheetmetal due to the small fenders and also most probably were ordered with fewer options (that add weight), and had smaller tires/wheels, etc.

Carl, thanks for the props. Also, to follow up on some other posts, the previous owner told me why the fit of the header panel (which is made by GT Specialities) looks a little off - he removed the bumper shocks to move the heavy bumper closer to the center of the car for better weight distribution. Also, here is a pic of the interior, with the Koenig race seats and harnesses (momo 2" on pass. side, Schroth 3" on driver side), Grant GT steering wheel with 2" extension, fire extinguisher on a brey-krause mount in front of pass. seat.

Not to beat a dead horse here (because I absolutely love the car and the work that went into it), but, like I stated before, that header panel does not fit because it was meant for the S2/951 cars that have a more curved front end. The bumper has nothing to do with it. Take a look at the headlight covers, you will see that there is a little more space around them, because that area was also meant for S2/951 cars. Again, I love the car, just trying to make you aware of the real reason there.........
To see what I mean, take the stock header panel that you have and compare the two.
