Default Cold Weather Starting - 2 clicks then it starts?

The same thing happened last year prior to winter storage...on a colder day in the late fall when turning the ignition to start, I get a click. Try it again, same thing...try it for the 3rd time and presto...starter engages and we're off to the races. No noticable votalge charging differences experienced. Is this a grounding problem or is there some sort of cold weather issue with the starter or electrics associated with the starter.

Batteries don't like cold, maybe yours is telling you it needs to retire soon..

The battery is an Optima Gell - Red Top. I'm pretty sure it's not the culprit. It pumps out a solid 12 volts. But given your northern european location you may have other cold weather knowledge.
