I'm In!!! All we gotta do is set a date amongst ourselves and call them in to rent it out! Hell, maybe we can get some PCA guys to tag along to squeeze out some serious discounts!! I want to see 200hp!!!! Everybody will be gone in a few weeks on various Thanksgiving trips, then theres the Autocross on the 28th... maybe like one of the first weekends in December!?

Poser!

Jk, I started a similar thing in the 951 world. Ask the dyno shop for a group dyno day discount, we got a deal where we get 3 runs, and an a/f sheet for $55/car with 10 cars (we're at 18 cars so far, the dyno day isnt for another month.) Here's the link https://rennlist.com/forums/944-turbo-and-turbo-s-forum/163767-group-dyno-day-feeler.html

Thursday nights is $50 for 3 runs. That's a deal. I can't do the 951 unless I can use a trailer, but I'll do the PT. Need to tune it anyhow.

Perhaps the first Thursday in December?

Steve,

Did you find a turbo front end for your car?

I will probably buy the one from Performance products, buy the turn signals and watch for a good buy on fog lights. I saw a picture of one installed before paint and it looks fine. I think this is the cheapest way for me to go.

How about Thursday December 9th? I'll call this week and double check to see if they can take 5-10 cars.

It's in the evening. They do an open session on Thursdays, $50 for 3 runs according to their website. December 9th is a Thursday, so that's why I suggested.

I have not had a chance to call them during business hours. I'll try in the afternoon tomorrow and see what kind of rate.. and what day we can get 10 cars in there. I know there are more of us that want some dyno time. (Kerry.. John.... oh yea, David.... how about bringing this up at the December 6th meeting??)

PCA meets the first Monday of the Month, that would be the 6th.

Sent an e-mail as well, then rechecked their website. Check it out again... they have some very good info on there. Since this place allows the owner to run the car, I'm ALL in. If it goes boom, I want to do it. Let's get this rolling. I requested a private evening sometime in the week of December 5th... yes, perhaps a Sunday event. Get it on your schedules.

Oh.. someone want to tow my 951? It's not exactly legal right now.

Here's how they do business:.

First step: call us. This works best for both of us. We know you're coming. You know we'll be here.

Find us: directions and maps are on the Contact page. Once you're in the neighborhood: There are two businesses in the building we occupy. On the right side of the building, is a large gate with a big sign "Dynolab". Find a parking space, go through gate. There is a large "Dynojet" banner hanging atop the building. The office is under the big banner.

Driving in: Once prior customers have cleared the work area. There'll be a short break for cleaning and stowing. You'll be instructed to drive in. Rear wheel drive cars drive straight in. Front drive cars back into the building.

Once in position, set the e-brake, and release the hood latch.

Depending on what's being done, a variety of sensors will be attached to your car. At the minimum a spark pick-up, and ground wire are attached.

Several straps will be attached to the car, and large wheel stops will be set in front of, and behind the non-rolling wheels.

Most customers drive their own cars. You'll be instructed to start the car, and, "just get it rolling" (about 5-10mph) in first gear. This allows the car to center itself on the rollers. At this time the straps and wheel stops will be double checked.

For a normal power test, you'll be instructed to bring the car gently up through the gears. Upon reaching 4th gear (usually the gear closest to 1:1 ratio), you'll be instructed to completely depress the accelerator pedal.

Once your engine reaches the specified maximum RPM, simply push in the clutch, while releasing the accelerator, and take the car out of gear. No brake application is needed.

For cars equipped with automatic transmissions or special torque converters, some finessing is required. Its pretty simple.

For a normal power test, 2-3 runs taking less than a few minutes usually suffice. If tuning or testing
is being done, full and part throttle runs may continue for an hour or more.

A digital image is taken of your car, still strapped to the dyno.

After testing is complete, you can make payment by cash, debit card or credit card. You will receive an 8x10 glossy photo with your car on the top-half, and your dyno graph on the bottom half (see the Runs page for many examples). This image frames nicely.

The straps and wheel stops are removed, and the process is complete.
