Hello front range 944 people,

I may have a buyer for my 951 but he is going to have the car shipped to him sight unseen, probably early next week. I would feel better if someone from around here could take a look at the car, maybe drive it (weather permitting) so if something happens to it in shipping and there is a dispute about the condition of the car we have some independent assessment. I doubt anything bad would happen, but if the delivery driver decides to romp the car a little and it is delivered with a blown engine or burnt clutch the combination of long distance and bad feelings would be no fun for anyone. Certainly not me.

I also have a 951 parts car so if you wanted something off of it for your trouble we can work something out. I'm keeping all the really cool stuff but there might be something you can use. There are things like the hood and the hatch that I do not want and am not going to try to sell and ship to someone, and a lot of little stuff. If you have some time this weekend that would be helpful. I live out East of Boulder, just outside of Lafayette.

Thanks,
-Joel.

That sort of thing actually happens quite often. I know of two people personally it happened to. One had the clutch burned up nearly to uselessness and the other had multiple scratches on it and a cut, flat tire on the trailer. One wonders what what done to the car to cause a flat. Not to mention the gouges on the wheel as they rolled it on and off the trailer with a flat.

The buyer should certainly get some solid transporter recommendations.

Hi Joel,

I'm up in Loveland but would be happy to help, I have an '87 951 so I'd have a point of comparison.

Also, what color is your parts car? I'm looking for a header panel, headlight cover and maybe hood in Guards Red. Might be interested in the hatch as well. I'm going to be in Longmont on Saturday morning scavenging parts from Patrat's 944S, maybe we could connect then?

Thanks,

Greg East

Thad and Greg, thanks! Saturday is better though, as it'd be daytime when I could be home. I'm not too far from Longmont (straight South on Hover,) I could probably meet you there. The parts car is Stone Gray. I have no front valance, and only the right headlight cover. You are welcome to the hood if you want it too but you'd need to paint it.

Will I hope you are joking :-) but if not let me know.

Hi Joel, why don't I come down to your place before or after I go to Patrat's. We can do the drive/take some pics, etc. and I can take a look at the hatch and maybe the headlight cover too.

Thanks,

Greg

Hi guys! I'm the "buyer" for the Joel's 951. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give us on this. Joel is certainly a rock solid guy and I know what he says about the car is true, but he is definately right about possible damage in shipping. If someone does have a chance to give the car a quick once-over that would be great! My email address is pauld@asapstaffing.com if you need to reach me for anything. Thanks in advance for your help! And, Joel...the transfer should post sometime tomorrow around noon or shortly thereafter as per my bank.

Update: The car is paid for, and the truck will be coming to get it Sunday or Monday (wow, that's fast.)
Some weather is coming in but hopefully I can still get someone to take a look at it on Saturday. Paul are you still planning to go to Longmont if we get some snow?

So far this is all working out. The expected snow never showed up, Greg came by and took the car for a spin and got some pictures yesterday, and today the transport company is due around 5:00 to pick up the car. I'll get some more piuctures as the car is loaded and take very careful note of the mileage. I do not know how long the car will be in transit, hopefully not too long.

Thanks everybody for all the help so far,
-Joel.

The car is at Paul's in AR! Sounds like it arrived in good shape and was as described. Thanks again for all the help.

My next goal is to get what's left of my parts car hauled off. Anyone around here ever have that done?
-Joel.
