Quick Clutch Parts Question

Quick Clutch Parts Question
Quick question on clutch parts.. I was looking between these two clutch kits:
paragon: http://www.paragon-products.com/prod...116.911.00.htm
pelican: http://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog/...clutch_pg1.htm
I was curious which is better. The Pelican one is $150 more, but comes with all the minor parts. I feel like the paragon one may still be the better deal though. Has anyone ordered the paragon one, which parts will I need that it doesnt come and how much does it run for?
Thx

Your specific vehicle does not need the master or slave cylinder. They were replaced twice within the last three and a half years.
If you order through paragon and give both my name and Ray's name they will pull up the invoices of parts ordered in the last four years. Probably all non S2 specific parts and all parts ordered after sept 2003 and before June 2004 went into your vehicle.

Nothing like knowledge about a specific car. If you don't need the hydraulics, you don't need the hydraulics.
You will need the 9 flywheel bolts, pilot bearing, 2 pivot bearings, a rear main seal, and a throwout bearing guide. I think that wdds up to about $85 worth of stuff.
If there's $150 of difference between the kits from the two vendors, then you'd get a clutch master cylinder and a clutch slave cylinder for $65 extra. The slave is about $60 and the aster is about $90.
So it loos like the Pelican kits is a better deal if you think the hydraulics will be replaced before are finished with the car. Paragon may be willing to match the deal.
I bought the Pelican kit because I thought I would need to replce the hydraulics. I didn't get them installed before the car was totaled, so they're sitting in my garage. (Caution, shameless advertisement here: I will sell the master and slave cylinders for $150 and throw in the rubber hoses if anyone is interested). I can tell you the Pelican parts were good quality parts. I'm sure the Paragon parts are, too.

This has nothing to do with your question. Like an idiot I just responded to a thread in the 911 forum about clutch replacement cost, thinking I was in the 944 forum. I deleted the post, but hated to see it go down the drain, hope you don't mind if I post this here.
The labor guide says 10.5 hours for the clutch
Then an additional 0.4 hours for the rear main and pilot bearing
Master and slave is 1.5 hours
Bleed 0.4 hours
Then figure in time for bolts that might strip and other snafos
The clutch kit prices have increased over the last few years, MSRP is now $783.57, DIY and buy from Paragon and pay $550.
Start throwing in stuff like new hardware, master and slave, rear main, etc.. and you can easily hit $2k + tax if you have a shop do it.

Having done a clutch on a 944, I would NEVER skip replacing the pilot bearing of rear main seal. These are easy to replace, cheap to buy, and if either fails, you get to do the whole job over again. I MIGHT skip having the flywheel re-surfaced because you have to take it to a machine shop, but only if I thought the flywheel was in good shape.
