Default Can 993 brakes be retrofitted to 968?

Hi All,

Im new on this board.

I am looking to purchase a 968 for daily driving and track work. My 993 could do with a brake upgrade and I was wondering if anyone on this board had successfully grafted standard 993 calipers and discs to the 968?

If so is their much work involved or is it plug and play?

Given the number of gous on the 993 board dropping their old brakes for big reds I thought this might be a common upgrade for 951 and 968 owners needing bigger calipers and drilled rotors????

Appreciate you advise...

Macca, some 968 owners have upgraded to big reds. I am not sure exactly which calipers are fitted to 993s. My guess is that the upgrade would not be worthwhile unless your 968 is seeing significant track use. I have 235 front and 265 rear tires on my 968. The weak point in braking is tire adhesion to the road. I have 50' of skid marks to prove it.

Now if you are tracking a lot then the stock calipers can be overheated and the usage justifies upgrading to calipers and rotors that will probably bring greater rotating / unsprung weight to the car.
