Default clearance between drive shaft and tranny shaft?

Started my clutch about 2 weeks ago, finally getting things back together. Had some fitment issues getting the drive shaft into the clutch and pilot bearing, (1-1.5" gap) moved the motor around per another post and it went a lot closer. Slowly tightened the bolts down on the TT, and it seemed to tighten up fairly easily. When reinstalling the tranny, the drive shaft and the tranny shafts were just touching, but not so much that I couldn't turn the tranny shaft by hand. I don't remember when i dissassembled things if there was a space between the two, or they were touching from the get go. The white coupler went on and bolted up fine, which makes me think things are OK, as if they weren't the smooth grooves in each of the shafts wouldn't have lined up with the bolts and I would not have been able to get the bolts in the coupler at all.
Can anyone confirm that there is very little space between the shafts, as I am getting paranoid that I somehow shifted the drive shaft back in the TT while trying to get it on.
Damn short term memory. I shoulda never been introduced to beer in college...

I just did my clutch several weeks ago, and the torque tube shaft and transaxle shaft just barely touch; you *could* turn either of them freely, but could not slip anything (like a piece of paper) between them. My 83 was like that, too. It sounds like yours is fine.

Cheers,

That's what I've got. Good to know. Was anticipating some bad words when I had to repull the tranny and reposition the clutch plate....

Thanks a bunch!
