Weltmeister 944 S2 chip. Crap or not crap?
#2
Weltmeister is a pretty reputable company. I know their turbo chips are very good (kicks autothority's *** for the matter).
At 40 dollars, youre not losing much. It's not gonna be any worse than OEM.

The Steve R chip which is described as a "Weltmeister clone" that I have in my car did make a difference that could be noticed/felt. I think I paid like $125 for it and the Welt. costs several hundred...for $40 I'd definately go for it.

The guy says he also has Welt clones for $25! He also said I should go with a MSD ignition and a Speed Force Racing 2.5 inch exhaust for an S2 as well as a K&N filter up front. He says that with this setup I should see an honest 10 to 14 horsepower increase as well as the car will be way more pliable and run better than stock.
Please help me out here guys, are these claims founded? Will the car run better with the MSD ignition and some hotwires and plugs?
Thanks again guys

I posted something on the MSD and my Z28 about two weeks ago.
We took out the plugs with 39k on them and they looked like they had double the mileage. same for the ignition. the tip on the rotor was pretty fried.
I think the extra juice going through the system accellerated the wear. Mind you the distributor on my Z28 is below the water pump and the plugs are booked at three hours so the frying of parts wasnt what hurt. Nice extra power though.

Tom, thanks for the response. So can you lead me in the right direction for the stuff I would need? I have a performance parts catalog and they have several aftermarket setups. Which is best? I appreciate the help of this board. I've been gone for to long.

lemberg,
Cant help you with the S2, my MSD came with the Z28 when I bought it last year.
Someone did put an ignition and chip on his S2 about three years ago. Forgot his name, he had a gray S2 and came from the MD VA area I think. He shifted from this board to the email board shortly after the switch, but he did a write up on the procedure and results.

Michael Stephenson put the chip and ignition in his S2. Search function "chip, ignition, S2" worked.
