Default Chipped the car last night

I finally got around to chipping the 24S last night. It seems like it has a little more low end power and alittle more high end power. It wasn't a bad dea considering my dad gave it to me for free. I was expecting the chip to just make it run exactly the same with no rev limiter, but it seems to have added some power.

That is what 2-3 hp feels like.

Not much but it is there.

Its the authority clone. I'm not sure to tell you the truth. I tell a little difference though.

I notice a slight difference with mine, but not enough to justify the high octane gas the car then requires. I have the vertex version of the chip, which is the Autoauthority clone.

My .02

I ordered the imfamous FRWilk PowerProm2 chip last weekend, it should be here this week. I am looking foward to trying it out. Provides a cure for the sputter problem when the revs drop in neutral, takes away the flat spot in the power at ~3300rpms and gives that 'v-tec' effect you get after ~3500rpms at all times. Ill post a little testimonial on it this week hopefully.

Sounds like you have already given the testimonial, it would be hard to fall short of your expectation

Guys,
I may be getting access to a before/after dyno of 944-spec car with the FR Wilk chip.

If I do get one I will post for reference. I have about 5-6 944-spec car dyno's on my website. Some with choips and some without. Power output is very similar for all cars. 130-138 rwhp. I would expect these to be a bit higher than a typical street 944 motor.

fezz, have you read the posta bout it on the Pelican forum? There are alot of posts (from a number of different people) praising the changes it makes. Here is one such post...

I have the back to back dyno with the Wilk chip.

Result... peak hp change from 129.4 to 130.8 rwhp. Yep 1.4 hp peak, Torque gain from 134.2 to 137.3 ftlbs.

Huge gain right. Well the gain was actually better than the numbers show. I will post the chart and some analysis to show that for this driver and car the FR Wilk chip is going to make difference on the track that will help and can be felt in places.

Still not sure if it is worth it for a street car however.

stay tuned!

M758 - Great info! thanks.
i think i will get the chip.

i suspect the real difference is in where the chip moves the power band - especially at the low end?

I think 3.2 lbft of torque is decent from a little collection of resistors and capicators!
I swear by the seat of the pants improvement from Willk's chip - and I still want to research the change with the Euro - higher compression pistons.
I bet I put 135 at the wheels, but it's wild guess! Knowing that the estimated engine hp is 163, I have a not too old rebuilt engine and the chip... assuming like 20% drivetrain loss, that's around 133,134... I think?
