Crank Sensor??
Well....for the 1st time since I bought it, the 951 has decided not to start....
No spark is coming off the coil and I have tested that the coil is indeed receiving power. I checked to see if the negative post was good....by connecting a light sensor between it and the positive post on the coil...and then cranking the engine. No luck (the light didn't come on as the circuit should have closed)! My guess is that the crank sensor is bad....thus not allowing the circuit to close and produce spark. Also by the fact that it is a bit intermittent....like any electrical problem.
What do you all think? Is there anyway to test this without buying a new sensor. And....where can I even buy a sensor?????
Thanks!

I will check my service manual and get back to you unless someone posts the test first.
Only bad thing, there is a chance of damaging the brittle wires and connectors upon removing.

Three Wheelin'
when my brother was trying to start his 944 the same topic came up and someone mentioned swapping the plugs on the crank sensor and the reference sensor that is right next to it and if it tries to start then it is the crank sensor. Someone please correct me if I am wrong in reccomending this procedure.

I can't seem to find my notes when I went thru this a couple years ago.
Try tapping lightly on the tops of the sensors with a wooden handle, this will sometime jar the magnets enough and the car will start if the sensors are the problem.
I will look further for my notes,
