Just a couple of basics points:

Discharging the battery by leaving the headlights on will not cause the problems you describe once the battery is recharged. Also, an alternator failure will not prevent the car from starting.

So Cyrus is right, check for fuel and spark.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I am on duty today so i will not have time to mess with the car until around Tuesday, probably looking at shop time to get it fixed.

I really appreciate all the help off this site. The kindness shown by members here has made me want to be a paying member instead of a lurking vulture.

I would just like to add that even though the info is great I have little idea of how to put it to use. I am more of the "if it moves or works properly, kill it" type of person. (Hence job specialty, Marine Corps Infantry) I do know how to use the search button, and have been putting it to use, it's just that finding the time for search and repair work is severly hampered by training. A small explanation would go a long way.

Alrighty, had car towed to the shop and the shop says the car is running now. They say the culprits are a bad relay and fuel line. They are calling back on thursday to give details. Since the car is already in the shop the clutch, motor mounts, and possibly some suspension work will get done.(depends on if i can loosen my wife's grip on my bank account !)
