Hmmm... it's just getting broken in - unless the PO snapped the timing belt on you?

Welcome. More information is required. Does the car have any problems now? If not, I wouldn't worry about it. These engines are extremely durable, including the internals. Unless you're tweaking it to change c/r or you have bad rings for some reason or internal engine damage, drive it and forget about it would be my recommendation.

Well car sat for 6 years. Haven't started it yet. Doing belts and water pump first as found timing tension gear siezed. Car ran when parked there and tdc looks correct. mystery oiled cylinders before even turning over with wrench. It's amazing what nature does to a car that sits. Luckily doors and windows were shut. Had to" dezoo" it when I got it home.(mouse nest in air filter box) and in front of cowl . I was just doin "what if's" Custom pistons cost a fortune compared to off the shelf. Alex

It shouldn't need new pistons unless the bores are in bad shape and you have to go oversize. That's a pretty pricey option too....

I know all about the wildlife moving in. My car sat about a year and I found 2 big red wasp nests by the coolant reservoir. Luckily only one nest was active and the first time I popped the hood in the garage at night when they weren't too quick to fly out!
