I just read: "I currently own a '86 black 951 that is getting a FULL build by Promotion Racing. If that helps."
You're probably SOL with the '86, as there's a good chance that it does not have the factory cut outs for the 6.5" speakers. If you are comfortable with it, cut the body work to fit the larger speakers.

I had four 4x6 alpines in my S2 that was stolen, and my brother had 4x6s in his 84 that he sold to Skoot1027.
Went in without a hitch. used the grills from the $30 radio shack 4x6 speakers that I believe may have been discontinued.
