Default Power Windows Work When Car is OFF!!

Hey,

My power windows are still functional without the key in the ignition, and whenever the car is off. I opened up the relay, and discovered that it activates whenever the car is in the accessory position. If I were to take the key out, from after starting the car, the windows will still work. The relay gets stuck on the on position, even when the car is off. Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the power windows on these cars for an 89 turbo? I'm thinking my relay is busted, I'm going to try to resolder the joints tonight to see if it'll do anything.
Do you guys think it's the relay, or an electrical shortage?
btw- I tested the switches, and all 3 of them are fine.

Thanks

They should work like that until the door is opened, IIRC.

Matt you are correct- thats the intended operation. Mine dont- I think it has to do with the electric locks option. (post 88 944's)

Matt is correct. They are designed to work that way.

Ok, the door contact switches have been removed from my car for the past couple months. The alarm kept going off, and I traced it to faulty contact switches. I know they were designed to keep the relay open for like 30 seconds or something to operate after the igntion has been cut off. But the weird thing is that these windows would not work when the car was off last week, why do they work now?
Also, that window winder relay -G7- is burning hot to the touch HOURS after the car has been off.
The car's battery has been draining (alternator/cables/battery are fine) there's a shortage somewhere, and I'm thinking this could be a cause.
Where is the ground for the radio/power windows/power door locks located? Under the dash?

Thanks

Well,

I resoldered the relays board, everything works like it should now, windows don't get power when the car is off.

Thanks

You start the engine, drive or just shut it off, doesn't matter. Then remove the key. The windows will still work until any door is opened. This also applys to your clock if your fuse #11 is blown, it will still work until you open the door, the poof, it stops, and will pic back up where it left off next time you start your car.

Yup, and it's very convenient too. I usually shut the car off before I'm even at a complete stop. S'what the kool kids do
