Oil light question.... [!]
I have searched the post and didn't find a cut and dried answer.
Aside from the obvious...no oil, or lack of pressure, etc.
What all can make the "Engine oil" and the "!" light come on and stay on.
Car was/is fine, daily driving, then ran on a short trip, everything fine, but when I started back up the lights didn't go off as normal after ignition.
As I said, the oil level is fine, recently changed, can't find any leaks, and the gauge is reading fine, and within normal operating limits.
Could it be a loose electrical wire on the sending unit? Or something else?
Help is appreciated as always!!

Mine comes on if it's a half a quart low. I have a small oil leak and have to keep a close eye on the level.
It doesn't take much to turn the light on.

If the wires on the sender are loose or broken, both of the lights will come on. Ask me how I know, talk about panic!!! I was doing about 70mph on the freeway with nowhere to pull over, motor sounded fine, plus I thought that was the case because the light would just sort of slowly drift on and off with the motion of the car.

Well, I guess I was half braindead when I checked the oil the first time, or it wasn't on level ground...as prescribed, about 1/2 quart low. Added the oil and no lights, no problems!!
Thanks again to all!

You should always carry a spare quart of oil (and coolant) just incase.
There is an oil level sensor on the 87+944 cars (that causes the ! and engine oil light to come on).
