Default Went to the track last night

I didn't do too bad in the 924S. I was able to pull a 16.4 in the 1/4 mile. I was hoping for a high 16. I noticed that there was black smoke that came out of the exhaust on every shift. WHat I want to know is what could be causing this? I have replaced the spark plugs, and the o2 sensor(it was bad). What should I check?

Black smoke usually means your running rich. Likley caused by a ignition or fuel related problem.

If the smoke is blue then you have a problem with burning oil.

Edit - Forgot to mention, running rich could be caused by a problem with the fuel pressure regulator. According to ClarksGarage, you can check the FPR by using a fuel pressure gauge. Faulty FPR's will cause abnormaly high fuel pressures. Replacing the FPR is fairly simple, nothing overly complicated involved. Just a little messy if your not careful when removing the fuel lines however.

Hehe, 16.4 is better than mine. It ran 18.5 on the quarter mile, shifting at 6000. Then again, it's pretty sick (compession is 90-100psi on all 4 cylinders), so I guess that wasn't too bad =)
Although, it kicked *** on the road course.

Track has turns, strip does not. Thot I'd make that little distinction. Hope you have a supply of CV joints and R&P.

Oh don't worry about the ring and pinion on this car. Its so strong. I did a clutch drop from 6500 rpm's everytime. J/K. I took the launches easy. I didn't "dump" the clutch. I just slipped it off the line. I don't need to be buying a new tranny. Although it shifts very smooth ever since I changed the oil. Where can I get a Fuel Pressure gauge from that doesn't cost $40-up?
