Default What to offer

Hey,

Found an 86 951 for sale close to me in my FAVORITE combo (blk/tan) with a good body, good interior but motor "needs lots of work"

I lowballed HARD and offered $500 and actually kinda laughed. I asked what he expected to get and he told me to check it out first then we can work from there. I need to know how much is reasonable, can ya guys give me an idea?

Thanks
Mike

PS: I'm selling my Conquest for $2k so I'll have alil bit of cash.

You need to check exactly how good paint and interior are, and if the tranny has LSD. I wouldn't pay more than 3k, and that's for a really nice car.

i'd suggest exactly that, i've seen em go for "4200 usd" with high miles but high miles shouldn't scare you on a 944, at 160,000 it's just getting broken in

Anything more than 2k is laughable.

doesn't seem like there is enough information to go on here. $500 would buy a salvage 944. it's pretty low for a 951 with "nice body and interior." even $2000 sounds low assuming the rest is in good shape.

post some pics and that might help answer your question better.

$500. I'm surprised he's still talking to you. Must be desperate to sell it!

Mike.. Damn near to impossible to tell. Figure a 5 grand cushion for parts and your labor if it's toast.
Offer him 850 cash and see if he bites.

I will. I'm gonna go try and check it out on Friday. He will be gone over the weekend

He wont tell me what he is expecting to get, which makes it difficult for me to offer. He said he could part it out for more when I said $500, so I'm hoping he bites for around $1000 and no more then $1.5K, think that would sound acceptable?

I'm selling my car I've invested tons of time into to get my dream car...

Got to figure out what the engine problems are first, right now it's just speculation, but...sounds like he's just lookin' for the cake rather than someone like me, I'd rather make less and have it whole going to someone who'll take care of it and drive the damn thing as it was meant to be. Still, depending on how much you'd be willing to put in, $1200 or so doesn't seem ridiculous to me. I think parting out a good body and interior with blown? motor could net 2k-3k pretty quickly though. Good luck and post the pics.
