Sheesh, it's about time. I got that issue Friday but I haven't had a chance to read it yet.

It's actually a good issue. It has a story on the ex-Al Holbert 928 that is in that video that DanP made, the car is owned by a fellow Rennlister. The article on the 4 RS variants is a bit hoaky and choppy, though.

Sweet, I wonder if I can email them comments now as opposed to writing. I had a few suggestions for articles.

It's about time those p-car kooks from Marin come out of their cave and join civilization and the 21st century! Jeeeeez!!! What took them so dang long? One would think they were too busy writing or somethin. Doh!

Anyone notice that the current issue of Excellence is 99% percent 911? (I.e., overgrown VW?) Very little coverage on anything other than 911, aside from the Tech thing on the 928 engines; a story on a dude building a new 917 from leftover parts from Vlasek Polak; and coverage of the last big 914 get together. The rest of it is 911 junk. Hafta wait for the next issue for more waterpumpin shenanigans....

I really enjoyed it, too. I also enjoyed the Rennsport article. What did you not like about it, out of curiosity? As an aside, I would love to own a Rubystone Red 964 RS one day! I am probably in the vast minority in my fascination with that color, though.

I like the article as a whole, but the writing style was choppy and it didn't transition well between the testing of the different cars. There was one point in the story I had to back up and re-read the last paragraph to figure out they still weren't talking about a previous car (I *think* it was 964RS to 993 RS). Their choice at the end was predictable as well. The photography was great though, almost at GT&PP level. I want a 964RS as well someday, but in that Bianchi Celeste Green color. That is hot!

Tifo,

Thanks for the clarification. I read the article just before falling asleep, so I thought the poor transitions were due to my sleepiness. Yes, one day, we will have to park our 964 RS's next to each other at a show: my Rubystone Red and your Bianchi Green! That would make for some fine, albeit, interesting pictures!

P.S.--I noticed in my post above that I said "vast" minority. What an oxymoron... I feel like a moron, actually. I meant to say slim minority.

Take care,

Jonathan

You are right, Deni. So, to myself, NeedPorscheSpeed, I offer an apology.
I only felt like a moron for a couple seconds, though. It was painless, and I've recovered.

Need: Just don't let it happen again, can't have brusied egos around here, they need to be saved for the track...!

BTW: I will most likely get a Excellence sub, but I just cringe when they don't any 944 tibits in the issue. Feeling like I am paying for ads when that happens. (Hmmm maybe I am paying for ads anyways...hrmmm)

So does this mean we can use all of our collective internet emailing powers and woo-them into writing less about the 911? I'd really like to email them and welcome them to the 90's.

I just got my issue on saturday and i only flipped thru it, seeing very little interesting coverage, other than the 928 article i'd like to read. Where do they plug the website in the issue?

i think "collective emailing powers" has to equal collective "dollar" power via their constituets (e.g., paying advertisers). then there's that UK mag that does a better job covering the 944; what is it? 911 & Porsche Motorsport (link)? I wonder what percentage of income subscribers represent for Excellence?
